Reasons I love small presses

Small presses have the ability and inclination to try new things, support new authors, or publish genres that generally have poor readership.

Many small presses try to give a voice to a particular type of writing, a particular genre or a particular (generally under-represented) community of authors.

This willingness to focus on “risky” (i.e. may not be as profitable) literature also means that small presses support what many would consider the fringe – odd, unusual, or unpopular literature.

Small presses are supporting authors and works that might otherwise be ignored.

Small presses are also, often, the people who publish your local authors.

By supporting small presses, you are supporting a community of writers, readers and publishers.

Small presses provide us with new reading experiences and allows for a more diverse cultural perspective in our literature.
