Valentine’s Cookies

I keep telling my co-workers that I’m going to make them cookies, and keep not getting around to it. So, when I found this simple recipe that makes just 20 cookies, I thought I ought to finally get around to making cookies for my co-workers. Gummi bear Valentine’s cookies seemed like an easy win.

The recipe was easy (though, I realized that I lack in bowls that aren’t small or ginormous, so mixing such a small batch was a bit annoying), but I clearly needed magic Gummi bears.

This is what they’re supposed to look like:

This is what they looked like when they came out of my oven:

Um, these aren't hearts. #cookies

This is what they looked like after I used a pointy thing to make the melty Gummi bear bits look more heart-shaped.

Et, voila! Gummibear heart cookies. #cookies

The Gummi bears did melt, but the surface stayed strong and more-or-less kept it’s shape (surface tension: proof that science can “ruin” a perfectly good cookie!). I think that if they had melted better (everything liquefying, and not just the interior), this would have worked perfectly. Though, really, they’re cookies and I’m not trying to be Martha Stewart, so as far as I’m concerned they’re awesome.

Also, who doesn’t like a good Gummi bear feast/massacre!
