Day 6: Childhood memory

I’m doing a photo challenge for the month of November, despite it being from August 2011, I’ve decided to use this list for my daily prompts.

When I was a child, I believed that finding a stone on the shore that had a perfect circle of minerals around it was good luck. The more circles, the more luck. But, I still loved flawed ones, too, especially if they were interesting colours. So, I scoured the beach at the family cottage for lovely stones. This is one that I’ve carried with me, no matter where I’ve moved, as a reminder of home and the beach.

When I was a kid, I thought rocks with unbroken rings of minerals brought good luck, but I still loved the flawed ones #memories #photochallenge

This is a hand painted gold jewellery box of my mother’s. I can’t remember if she gave it to me before she died or if I acquired it after she died, but I’m glad I have it. It’s small and simple and roughly made, but I love it. When I was a child, it always seemed to be filled with treasures. They weren’t fancy treasures, as my family wasn’t wealthy, but in a child’s eye, they were like the riches of a pirate’s chest.

My mom's gold jewelry box. Always full of treasures!
