Felt witch

Are you familiar with Gingermelon? If not, go and check out her Etsy store. She has fabulous felt doll patterns. A while ago, I used this pattern as the template for the voodoo doll kit I made for a friend. More recently, I made a slightly modified version of her Halloween Witch ornament pattern as a gift for a co-worker, who loves Halloween and witches and such.

For the most part, I followed the pattern, but I did something different for the hair, added a collar to the cap, and used embroidery for the embellishment.

I didn’t have any wool or yarn, so I had to do a bit of online searching to figure out how to make the hair. I’m really happy with the end result. The bright orange and few details I cut into the felt look great.

Here’s a close up of the hat. The colours are work really well together (I love combining bright colours). One thing I will say is that these dolls are so much easier if you have thread that matches the felt perfectly because you don’t have to worry as much about the stitching being perfect. You can’t see the stitching at all on the hat, but you can see my uneven stitching on the side of the head (not shown in these pictures).
