WIP – Fresh Blooms

I subscribed to Polka & Bloom’s patterns for 2012 and finally started working on one recently. Fresh Blooms is a lovely pattern that can be as colourful and as complicated as you like. I opted for simple stitches and just a few colours. Specifically, I opted to use some of my hand-spun threads from Dragonflylotus. So far, I’m using Bad love and  Calypso. I also have teal (Harmony) and a green (Shady Grove) picked out.

The thread is amazing, but because it’s handspun and wool-based, it does get a bit fuzzy as you work with it if you’re using fabric who’s weave is a bit small (like I am). I knew this would be a problem, but I decided that it would add a nice rustic feel to the piece, so I picked a antique ivory colour (it’s a napkin, actually).

The only problem is that I have a great book that keeps distracting me, so I haven’t been working on it much :)
