Fish aren’t so dumb after all

Over the past couple of years there have been a number of “OMG animals using tools!” moments in the science world. The latest is the discovery that freshwater stingrays use jets of water as tools and can do some basic problem solving.

As stated in the article, it was revealed that “the fish, once thought a “simple reflex animal”, has cognitive abilities to rival birds, reptiles and mammals.”

I doubt that their skills are as hilarious to watch as the octopus that use coconut shells for shelters, but it’s still really neat to hear that some of our aquatic friends aren’t completely stupid after all.
